New revision posted

I've posted a new version of statVat. It is now 1.2.0. I've basically only added a status bar that displays some stats above the game listings. It includes your and your opponents QB Rating. The rating is the formula created for the NFL.

I'm contemplating new features, but I'm starting to hit a wall of creativity. I debated add a full fledged league administration feature. That would take considerable time to complete, and I'd have to charge a fee for the program. But I don't really know the level of interest in that type of program. Nor do I know if EA will get their acts together concerning online leagues. Hopefully they will.

It would be nice to get some suggestions from users.

This is great, I have about 30 games loaded in. I have two double ups and if I try and delete them the program crashes, atleast I don't lose any data.

Thought I'd let you know

Interesting...

I'll try to recreate the crash today. I assume you're using the Windows version. If I can't recreate it myself I may need you to send my your database file. I hope that's OK.

Thanks for the report.

I have 288 emails in my yahoo account, but I've played 333 games total across 4 screen names (missed some emails because of EA's servers and others because I forgot to opt-in for the stats email on new screen names right away). All I have to say right now is 'where the hell were you 8 months ago so I wouldn't have to import 288 emails in a row?!?!' :-p Seriously, though, this is a cool little app. For 2006 I hope EA can 'borrow' it from you and expand it or at least offer some XML support (like Bungie/Halo2). That would be great.

Well, I could add a batch import. I thought about that because I had to had a few hundred myself. I’d have to allow for import of the actual email files, after having the user save to desktop. I’ve had enough problems helping people figure out how to select all and paste. LOL.

I actually submitted to EA a feature for XML streams of the game logs. If they did that then I could really write a cool program.

What exactly would you want to do with Halo2? I’ve never played it, so I don’t know what the information is. However, XML streams are fairly easy to acquire in most program languages. I wrote this in RealBasic because it’s cross platform compiler is awesome. Do you code? If so, what do you use? I’d be happy to share my source for statVat and we could even collaborate on some new features.

Thanks for using it though.

Well, I can't recreate the "crash" on any platforms. I even tried to create completely invalid game entried and couldn't do it. The delete feature is quite a simple function. The games are stored in RB's built in DB engine. It's a simple DELETE query that removes the games in a list. Even if the delete failed and exception would be thrown and a rather detailed error message would be displayed.

Since I haven't heard back from you I can't go any further.

It's odd, I only get the error message every so often, but if I restart it, it works.

I would be great to have a league option, depending on the fee:-P, becasue EA site it a pain.

I will try and copy the error message next time.

thanks for you help
